Applications have been invited from eligible candidates to work as stringers in 29 districts of Karnataka for the regional news department of Doordarshan Kendra, Bengaluru. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to June 6, 2025.
Apart from Yadgir and Gadag districts, those currently working as stringers in the remaining 29 districts such as Bagalkot, Bellary, Belgaum, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban, Bidar, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Davangere, Dharwad, Hassan, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Kodagu, Kolar, Koppal, Mandya, Mysore, Raichur, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, Tumkur, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Vijayanagar, Vijayapura districts and interested eligible candidates can apply.
The application period has been extended till 6th June 2025. Before applying, please refer to the details mentioned on the Prasar Bharati website https://prasarbharati.gov.in/pbvacancies/ . Applications can be sent by Speed Post and Registered. Submissions via posts only.
As per the recently revised payment rates for stringers, Rs. 1500/- will be paid for the local coverage assigned and Rs. 1000/- for the second coverage. Rs. 1800/- will be paid for the out-of-state coverage. The payment limit has been revised to Rs. 5 lakh per annum per stringer in Bengaluru. Rs. 4 lakh per annum per stringer has been fixed for the remaining districts.
The camera and accessories carried by the stringers should be of current technical standards. They should also have the necessary accessories, connectors and interfacing components to connect to DSNG/live units etc.
Applicants must have their own professional grade video camera with the latest Full HD/4K/UHD/NX format. In addition, applicants must have a quality smart phone with a 4G/3G SIM with a card reader and a net data pack, so that footage can be sent to the news department from the spot whenever required.
All existing stringers of Karnataka are advised to apply afresh and they will have to undergo a fresh empanelment process of stringers. Applicants should clearly mention the name of the district in which they wish to be placed in the list.
Applications along with relevant supporting documents and a demand draft of Rs. 1180/- should be submitted to Prasar Bharati. ( IPSB ), Doordarshan Bangalore, named after him. “Applications should be sent in a sealed envelope mentioning the name of the district in which the application is being made , “RNU, DDK, Bangalore” and addressed to “News Director, Regional News Department, Doordarshan Kendra, J.C. Nagar, Bangalore-560006″ only by 5.00 pm on June 6, 2025,” said Kesavamurthy, Director, News Department, in a statement.
