Bengaluru, December 20 (Karnataka News):
The role of the police is important in maintaining the security and safety of the country, and the police should act honestly and impartially. This was stated by the Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police, Dr. M.A. Salim.
Speaking after receiving the guard of honour at the parade of 416 civilian police constables of the 8th batch organized at the Police Training School’s Police Parade Ground in Thanisandra today.
He said that in the modern era, technology is changing and values and ideals should always be the guide. Only when good values are taken as ideals will the police department be able to achieve a good position.
I congratulate the trainees who have been training for 10 months. Each team has performed an impressive parade. A safe environment is very important for any society to develop.
He said that in Western countries, there has been more growth due to security. In countries where there is no security, development has been stunted, so it is the duty of the police department to create a safe environment.
It is the duty of the police to protect the property, safety and security of the public. The problems of the public should be handled with great sensitivity. When people are in trouble, the police department is the first thing that comes to mind. They have immense faith in the department, so it is very important to provide relief to the people’s problems. The police are called the first friend. Training is necessary to act in a people-friendly and positive manner among the public. Those who have quality education and good character are selected for the police department. Police training schools provide them with the best indoor and outdoor training. He said that they will be trained rigorously, equipped for civil service, and trained as police officers.
As technology has evolved, the nature of crimes has also changed. One must be prepared to detect serious cases like cyber crimes, robbery, extortion, and murder.
Bengaluru city alone accounts for 28% of cyber crimes. He said that trainees should be prepared to work according to new technology to control these.
He said that the work of providing justice to the good public should be done by identifying and punishing the miscreants in society.
