Bengaluru. August 3.
A delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) led by its President Sanjiv Bajaj and Director General Chandrajit Banerjee held discussions with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on industrial development in the state.
Speaking on the occasion Sanjiv Bajaj said, the CII is ready to collaborate with the state government in creating a conducive industrial atmosphere and employment generation in the state.
He also stated that CII is keen to set up training centres to provide employment for the youth.
Reacting to the proposal, Chief Minister Bommai suggested the delegation to set up training centres in Tumakuru, Hubballi, Mysuru and Belagavi cities. He asked CII to submit formal proposals in this regard.
Presenting details about the industry-friendly ecosystem in the state, Bommai said, the entire system including the industrial bodies are working together for Industrial development in the state. As a result Karnataka is at the top in attracting FDI, setting up of startups. The State is drawing huge investments in Hydrogen Energy, Ammonia production, Electric Vehicles manufacturing and Semiconductor sectors. The state has signed MoUs for total investments of Rs1.31 lakh crore at the World Economic Forum Summit and in the days after the event, Bommai said.
The State is also bringing a new R & D policy to make Karnataka the top global hub of research and development and sought the cooperation of CII in this regard.
The State is implementing a new Employment Policy to incentivise the industries which emphasise more on employment generation. To ensure skilled human resources to meet the industrial needs, the State government under ‘Industry 4.0’ is upgrading ITIs, Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges.
The CII delegation showed keen interest to collaborate in the initiatives for startups as well. The Chief Minister agreed for the proposal and asked the CII to submit their proposal.
