Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that loans of up to Rs. 2 lakh will be provided under the “Vipra Self-Employment Direct Loan” scheme through the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board for the Brahmin community to take up self-employment.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Philosophers’ Day celebration “Acharyatra Jayanthyatsava” program organized by the Karnataka State Development Board at the Babburukamme Seva Samiti Hall today and awarding awards to 12 achievers who have achieved in various fields, the Minister said that today, the beneficiaries of the Vipra Self-Employment Direct Loan Scheme were symbolically distributed with sanction letters. Those who have taken loans under this scheme will get 20 percent subsidy. The remaining amount has been allowed to be paid in 34 installments at an interest rate of 4 percent.
The government is releasing funds every year to the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board. The government is also working in favor of the Brahmins. The Brahmin community should be good for everyone in the society. No matter what community, caste, ethnicity, language, everyone should be treated equally. There are economically backward people in the Brahmin community too. The government has recognized this and the Brahmin community is getting confidence that they are in the government’s perspective, he said.
Asagodu Jayaram, chairman of the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board, said that the government is implementing the schemes adequately by creating awareness among the people across the state about the schemes being formulated.
He said that there should be no misunderstanding about the caste census. Scientific information is being obtained about the condition of each society. This will provide the government with scientific criteria for planning and formulating programs.
Speaking at the event, Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman R.V. Deshpande launched the Chanakya Scheme and said that the “Chanakya Administration” training scheme has been implemented to encourage talented graduates from the Brahmin community to write the civil services IAS/KAS exams and engage in administrative services.
Under this scheme, students from the Brahmin community will be admitted in the year 2025-26 to train for competitive exams, and the training fee paid will be refunded directly to the students through DBT, subject to a maximum limit of Rs. one lakh.
In the program, Dr. Belawadi Manjunath, a writer, gave a lecture on Adiguru Sri Shankaracharya, Dr. Shelvapillai Iyengar, Head of Ancient History at Karnataka State Open University, Mysore, gave a lecture on Sri Ramanujacharya, a pioneer of the path of devotion, and Dr. Vyasanakere Prabhanjanacharya, a retired principal and renowned scholar, gave a lecture on Sri Madhwacharya, a pioneer of music and the path of devotion.
The program was attended by Asagodu Jayaram, the chairman of the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board, the board’s directors, award recipients, and members of the Brahmin community.
