Bengaluru, Dec 9: Giant killer Harshini Nagaraj completed her dream run when she shocked the top seed Jaya Kapoor to grab the Girls Singles title in the Bren Asian Junior Tour 16 & Under, hosted by Topspin Academy. In a tight final, the 15-year-old Bengalurean defeated her fancied rival from Delhi in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to wrest her maiden ATF title. Meanwhile top seed Aradhya Kshitij overcame a fighting P Loganathan to bag the boys singles title with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Harshini who trains at the Transform Academy and riding high on her victory against second seed in the quarterfinal, took the final as just another match. After both the players held their respective serves for the first four games, The Brilliant School student upped her game and won the next four games on a trot to grab the opening set. The second set saw a similar start but only this time, Harshini lost her concentration for a while and was 2-4 down. However, she recovered just in time and took advantage of her opponent’s silly mistakes to win the next four games in a row to win the set and the match.
