Day-long deliberations on CSR activities, climate, and tech-driven impact in a developed India
Bengaluru, Sept. 3: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) will honor individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on Thursday, Sept. 4, with the “India CSR and Sustainability” Awards.
The event will be held at FKCCI’s Sir M. Visvesvaraya Auditorium, featuring day-long panel discussions where experts will share their insights. In the evening, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara will present the awards. FKCCI President M.G. Balakrishna will preside over the ceremony.
The program will bring together major corporate houses, public sector enterprises, MSMEs, NGOs, policy makers, and thought leaders to discuss CSR activities in a developed India, climate challenges, technology-driven impact, and holistic development.
India’s CSR spending rose to ₹34,909 crore last year—nearly 3.5 times higher than in 2015. Education received the highest share at 34%, followed by healthcare and rural development. Environment and livelihood are emerging as critical priorities.
Karnataka has launched initiatives like the Aakanksha CSR Portal (supported by UNDP), which connects over 2,600 companies and 6,300 NGOs to district-level needs, ensuring greater transparency and collaboration. Recognized by NITI Aayog, this model has positioned Karnataka as a national leader in CSR innovation.
N. Ashok Babu, Director of the National Water Mission, and Ratnesh, Executive Director of UN Global Compact India, will deliver keynote addresses.
Sharing details about the event, FKCCI’s Institutional Responsibility Committee Chairperson Keerthan kumar M said, “Karnataka’s CSR ecosystem, with platforms like Aakanksha, demonstrates how government, industry, and civil society can work together effectively. This event showcases best practices and helps channel CSR funds to the most impactful areas.”
