Bengaluru, Oct 1: The Karnataka Women’s and Men’s teams stormed into the semifinals of the doubles event of the 36th National Games, thus assuring themselves of at least a bronze medal. In the round of 16 played at the Sabarmati Riverfront tennis courts, the men’s doubles team of Adil Kalyanpur and SD Prajwal Dev won a hard fought battle against the fancied pair of Arjun Kadhe and Anvit Bendre in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 10-2.
Earlier in the day, Soha Sadiq and Sharmada Balu combined well to breeze past the Telangana duo of Paavani Paathak and Abhaya Vemuri with a 6-1, 6-3 victory to advance to the last four.
Meanwhile, both the men’s and women’s team had to settle for bronze in the team event.
