As part of celebrations of Army Day 2023 a Mini Marathon was organized at Belgaum Military Station on 22 Jan 2023, for the Ladies, Veterans and Civilians to demonstrate the patriotic fervor amongst the citizens and showcase Indian Army’s role of commitment in Nation building.
The Mini Marathon was flagged off by Colonel Swapnil VT, Officiating Commandant, The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre and Station Commander, Belgaum Military Station. Over 112 Ladies, 53 Veterans and 24 Civilians enthusiastically took part in the Mini Marathon which started from Chatrapati Shivaji Stadium”, The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre. The Mini Marathon was organized in three different categories for the Ladies, Veterans and Civilians. A large number of Ladies, Veterans and Civilians participated in the event and successfully ran a distance of 5 Kms and culminated at the Chatrapati Shivaji Stadium.
The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre and Station Commander, Belgaum Military Station said the purpose of organizing this event was to demonstrate the patriotic fervor among the citizens and to develop the sense of patriotism among the residents and to motivate the youth to join the disciplined force.
At the end of the event prizes were awarded to all the winners in each category and a certificate of participation was also awarded to all participants. The Station Commander exhorted all the participants to reconnect with our Glorious History in order to make our future even more glorious. He also appreciated and interacted with all participants followed by a cup of tea and snacks.
