The National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Ltd., (NCCF) Bangalore Branch, working under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Govt. of India is undertaking the sale of onions under Price Stabilization Fund ( PSF) at subsidized rate as per the Govt. of India directions.
Onion will be sold for Rs.35 in these mobile vans.
This initiative was taken up to ensure that the public will get onions at an affordable rate following reports of a spike in the rate in the open market.
Under the scheme onion purchased from Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh will be sold in Bangalore city from Monday onwards. This initiative was launched in all 28 Assembly constituency limits of Bangalore.
Ravi Chandra, Branch Manager informed that every assembly constituency has been allotted four mobile onion vans from the NCCF. A total of 112 mobile vans will be used to distribute the onions. “Sale will continue till the onion rates return to normalcy,” he explained.
Officials informed that the sales will start with 15 vans which will be increased to 50 vans by Thursday. Next week the number of vehicles will touch 112.
On Monday the mobile van starts distributing onions 12.30 pm onwards at HDFC Bank Ltd., No.27, Dollars Colony, 1 Main Road, Nandini Layout, Bangalore – 560096
