While inaugurating a seminar on “Fake News – Impact on Social Justice” organized by Karnataka Media Academy in collaboration with Department of News and Public Relations and Gandhi Memorial Bhavan at Gandhi Bhavan today, he said that some media outlets that spread fake news influence people’s minds. They are misguiding people by pretending to be false. This was not the case before. It has been increasing for six or seven years now. T.V. media broadcasts news according to the taste of the viewers in Big Breaking News, which is the TRP of the channels. Also increased. Due to this, these are also helpful in earning income, he said.
Fake news sends bad messages to society. People sometimes get confused about what is true and what is false. Hence its material verification Home, News and Public Relations Departments should monitor by doing (Fact Check). He said that this would prevent such news from spreading.
