As part of the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0 focused on cleanliness, record management, and institutional efficiency, the Coffee Board of India, Bengaluru today hosted the delegation under the leadership of Srinivas V IAS, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) and Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW). Coffee Board officials including . N.N. Narendra, IOFS, Director of Finance, Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Director of Research, Central Coffee Research Institute and other senior officials were present during the Visit. Director of Finance, Coffee Board presented overview of Indian Coffee Sector, role of Coffee Board and the best practices adopted by Coffee Board towards Special Campaign 5.0, Phase II (October 2- 31, 2025)
Addressing officials, he emphasized that institutional efficiency must go hand in hand with citizen participation. The Secretary called for enhanced capacity-building initiatives for farmers, ensuring that government schemes and advisory services from the board translate into field level outcomes. He urged the need for preserving historical institutional records through digitized archives and adopting a citizen-centric approach in implementation of Board’s services. He also emphasized the need for enhancing Waste to Wealth approach across coffee value chain to maximise value and sustainability.
He visited the Coffee Quality Division and Coffee Krishi Taranga services at Coffee Board Head Office. The Quality Division demonstrated and explained its activities related to cup quality analysis, capacity building programmes such as Post Graduate Diploma in Coffee Quality Management (PGDQM) & Kaapi Shastra, empowering coffee stakeholders. He also appreciated the Coffee Krishi Taranga platform which delivers interactive voice response services to farmers, providing timely guidance on crop management, disease control, and practices, thereby reflecting the Board’s commitment to direct farmer engagement and citizen-focused services.
Notable Highlight of the visit included the Secretary remarks on systematic clearance of Coffee Board’s marketing-era records (generated a revenue of 15 lakhs rupees), leading to efficient utilization of 8000 sq ft office space in the first floor of Coffee Board Head Office Bengaluru with the establishment of coffee centric Atal Incubation Centre (AIC). AIC-CCRI-CED was established in 2020 at the Coffee Board Head Office at Bengaluru in Collaboration with Central Coffee Research Institute (CCRI) and Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). Today, the incubation center is fostering entrepreneurship and innovation within the coffee sector.
The visit concluded with the Secretary appreciating the Coffee Board’s holistic approach to quality, research, and farmer engagement. He also encouraged the Board to continue its citizen-centric, innovation-driven efforts, ensuring sustainable growth and the promotion of India’s coffee on both national and global platforms.
