On February 4, 2026, the Bengaluru City Police officially integrat.ed the Tele MANAS (14416) helpline with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS – Namma 112). This partnership enables the seamless, real-time transfer of distress calls to provide immediate, specialized psychiatric care and crisis intervention for mental health emergencies, including suicide risk.
The initiative, led by Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh and Dr. Pratima Murthy of NIMHANS, enhances the existing, free, and confidential, 24/7, national tele-mental health assistance program.
The service ensures round-the-clock access to professional counselling and mental health support, reducing, in particular, suicide risks through immediate crisis management.The event was presided over by Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh and Dr Pratima Murthy, Director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS).
