A workshop on “Science Writing and Science Journalism” was organized by Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA) in association with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology under its S&T Communication, Popularization & its Extension (SCoPE) program during 9-10 March 2021 at KSTA office in GKVK campus.
The program was inaugurated by Dr Nakul Parashar, Director, Vigyan Prasar on 9th March 2021. In his inaugural address he stressed the importance of science communication in the present era. Prof S Ayyappan, Chairman, KSTA presided over the function. He emphasized that more and more such programs should be organized to train youngsters in science writing.
Dr T V Venkateshwaran, Chief Scientist, Vigyan Prasar, Mr. Kollegala Sharma, Former Principal Scientist, CFTRI and Dr A M Ramesh, CEO, KSTA were present on the occasion.
In the program, about 65 participants including journalism students and young journalists participated. Eminent science communicators including Dr T V Venkateshwaran, Kollegala Sharma, Dr Udayashankar Puranik, Dr J Balakrishna, T G Srinidhi, Kumar and Umesh Kumar delivered talks and also conducted practicals for participants to make them understand the nuances of writing science articles and also translation of English articles into Kannada.says release.
