The National Pulse Polio Programme is being conducted within the Bengaluru Central City Corporation limits from 21-12-2025 to 24-12-2025 at 28 Urban Primary Health Centres and 45 Namma Clinics / Maternity Hospitals / Referral Hospitals.
As part of the programme,Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Bengaluru Urban Development, D.K. Shivakumar, this morning administered Pulse Polio drops to children at his residence in Sadashivanagar, thereby officially inaugurating the vaccination campaign across the Greater Bengaluru Authority area. On this occasion, Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan was present.

Targeted number of children below 5 years: 185,888
– Number of children vaccinated on the first day: 176,413
– Achievement: 94.90%

Inspection of the vaccination campaign by the Additional Commissioner:
Additional Commissioner (Development) Daljit Kumar, visited Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station, Majestic BMTC Bus Stand, KSRTC Bus Stand, Metro Stations, Urban Primary Health Centres, and Namma Clinics to inspect the Pulse Polio vaccination programme, and personally administered the vaccine to several children below the age of five.
Across all Assembly constituencies within the Central City Corporation limits, Pulse Polio vaccination is being carried out through Urban Primary Health Centres, Namma Clinics, dispensaries, Anganwadi centres, and schools, with static and mobile teams operating at bus stands, railway stations, NGO hospitals, malls, private nursing homes, medical colleges, major parks, metro stations, slum areas, and other crowded public places.
To create awareness about the polio vaccine, extensive publicity arrangements have been made through banners and hoardings at public places, announcements via loudspeakers mounted on solid waste management auto-tippers, various social media platforms, door-to-door visits, and other wide-ranging communication methods.
The vaccination drive is being actively supported by Additional Commissioners, Joint Commissioners Ranganath and Hemanth Sharan, Health Officer Shivakumar, along with medical officers, health staff, and all personnel continuously engaged in the Pulse Polio programme.
Within the Bengaluru Central City Corporation limits, Rotary, UNICEF, UNDP, Lions Clubs, other voluntary organisations, nursing colleges, and private hospitals have extended cooperation and collaboration towards the success of this programme.
The Commissioner of the Central City Corporation has appealed to the public that even if children have received polio drops multiple times earlier, parents should bring all children below the age of five to the booths on the specified dates and ensure they receive the two drops of polio vaccine, so that together we can build a polio-free world.
