Public sector Karnataka Soap and Detergents Limited (KSDL) handed over Rs 135 crore in profit to the government for the year 2024-25.
Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil and KSDL President Appaji Nadagowda presented a cheque for this amount to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on behalf of the organization at the Vidhana Soudha Conference Hall.
Minister M.B. Patil said that KSDL had a turnover of Rs 1,700 crore in the last financial year and earned a profit of Rs. 451 crore. Out of this, 30 percent of the profit was given to the government as per the rules. He said that this is an all-time record in terms of turnover, profit and dividend.
In 2022-23, during the previous government, the company gave Rs. 54 crore as dividend to the government. In 2023-24, Rs. 108 crore as dividend was handed over. In comparison, the dividend has now increased by Rs. 27 crore. He said that this will increase further in the coming years.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Ministers K.J. George, Priyank Kharge, Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, Santosh Lad, Chief Secretary to the Government Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Selvakumar, and Managing Director of the organization Dr. P.K. Prashanth were present on the occasion.
