With the objective of creating awareness among citizens about pedestrian safety, smooth mobility, and the importance of walkable streets, the Bengaluru North City Corporation is organizing the 9th Footpath Walk under the “Walkaluru” Project. This community-based 5.2 km footpath walk will be conducted in the Kammanahalli area of Sarvajnanagar Division, aiming to assess local walkability on-site and identify locations that require improvement.
The footpath walk will commence on Saturday, January 10, at 7:30 AM from Joyalukkas on Kammanahalli Main Road.
29 km of Footpath Walks Already Completed within Bengaluru North City Corporation limits.
So far, footpath walks covering 5 km in Banaswadi, 7 km in Thanisandra, 10 km in Yelahanka, and 7 km in R.T. Nagar (Hebbal) have been completed within the Bengaluru North City Corporation limits. Additionally, on the first day of the New Year, a pedestrian walk was conducted from J.C. Nagar to Mekhri Circle.
In total, 29 km of pedestrian walk audits have been carried out and evaluated within the Bengaluru North City Corporation jurisdiction.
By engaging directly with citizens, this footpath walk serves as a significant step toward strengthening public participation in building sustainable and safe pedestrian infrastructure.
By joining hands with the city corporation team committed to urban development, citizens can walk together with their neighbors and play an important role in creating better and safer pedestrian spaces in their locality.
Route:
The walk will start from Joyalukkas on Kammanahalli Main Road, proceed to Mariyappa Circle, turn left onto CMR Road up to Banaswadi Club, take a U-turn back to Mariyappa Circle, continue left on Kammanahalli Main Road up to Empire Signal, take a U-turn, then turn left onto CMR Road, take a U-turn at Hennur Road, and return via Mariyappa Circle to conclude at Joyalukkas.
