Bengaluru. July 23.2022-A good news channel could evolve from an ideal combination of media and journalism, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
Speaking at a function to launch ‘Vistara News Logo and Website’ Bommai said, media is growing as an enterprise and journalism is rising as the voice of the people. People analyse the news being telecast by news channels. So the news should be objective and transparent.
Recalling the days of Emergency, Bommai said, government had imposed press censorship. It was Ramnath Goeka, the promoter of Indian Express newspaper, who raised his voice and fought against ii. Though he was a businessman, he fought to uphold the democratic values. So an ideal combination of media and journalism could bring a good news channel or newspaper.
Viewers have a wide choice. They keenly observe the stand of the news channel. Instead of magnifying the negatives, it is better to highlight the positives in the form of solutions for the issue. Greater emphasis should be on maintaining social harmony. it is easy for the media to be part of the problem, but it is important to be the part of the solution. That is what people expect from the media, Bommai said.
