The Southern team of the Delta 5 Expedition, an extensive pan-India motorcycle odyssey by the Indian Army to commemorate the RAJAT JAYANTI OF KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS, arrived in Bengaluru on 14th of June 2024, after Flagging Off from Dhanushkodi on 12th of June 2024. This distinguished team is embarked on a momentous expedition to the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, traversing through Manali in Himachal Pradesh, Sarchu, and Nyoma in Ladakh, traversing nearly 4000 kilometers by road in homage to the indefatigable spirit and dedication of our soldiers.
The team was formally Flagged In at Chanakya Auditorium of Rashtriya Military School by Brig Ajay Singh Thakur commandant MEG & Centre at 1600 hrs on 14 Jun 2024, where a ceremonial programme was convened to honour the Kargil Veer Naris and War Heroes residing in and around Bengaluru. Seven Kargil Veer Naris and seven Chakra Series awardees were honoured. The felicitation was attended by ESM, NCC cadets and significant youth cohort who had assembled to support the expedition on its journey. The event included a motivational lecture delivered by Team Leader Adarsh Janmeda and was attended by NCC cadets. On 15 June 2024, the team visited the ISRO facility in Bengaluru, where they were briefed by ISRO scientists.
The expedition was officially Flagged Off towards Anantapur from the main gate of MEG and centre on 16 of June 2024, by Maj Gen Harish Bhutani president SSB Centre South, Bangaluru at 0700 hrs. As the riders traverse the length and breadth of the country, they carry with them narratives of valour, sacrifice and patriotism. Their journey stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of our War Heroes, the Regiment of Artillery and the Indian Army.
The expedition is being carried out by the brave riders on Hero Moto Corp’s Maverick and Xpulse bikes ,supported by HPCL by providing fuel for the complete expedition and medical support by Apollo Hospitals .The team is grateful to all the sponsors for their whole hearted support for the success of this expedition.
