ISKCON Bangalore celebrated Vijayadashami on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Hare Krishna Hill with religious fanfare amid pandemic restrictions. Their Lordships Sri Sri Krishna Balarama were adorned in a special alankara as Sri Sri Rama Lakshmana and received all the pujas of the festival.
Sri Rama Taraka Yajna was performed while chanting Sri Rama Ashtottara Shata Nama (108 holy names of Lord Rama). Sri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Senior Vice President, ISKCON Bangalore, narrated the significance of the Vijayadashami festival.
The celebrations culminated with the event of setting ablaze 9 feet tall effigies of Ravana and Kumbhakarna to symbolize the victory of Lord Ramachandra on this day. Eco-friendly fireworks, certified by CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, were used to burn the effigies so as to prevent environmental pollution.
All the precautions and the guidelines issued by the government in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic were strictly observed during the celebrations. The entire program was streamed live on the temple’s official YouTube channel and Facebook page.
