Bangalore, 27 September, 2026: ISKCON Bangalore held a special event to commemorate the ‘Vishwaguru’ honour conferred on Srila Prabhupada during the auspicious Maha Kumbh Mela last year in its ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Mandir on Hare Krishna Hill in Rajajinagar.
The grand Vishwaguru Sambhramotsava was conducted in the divine presence of HH Kailashananda Giri Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Niranjani Akhara, Haridwar. Sri Dushyanth Sridhar Ji, a renowned Vedic scholar, public speaker, author and director, propagating Sanatana Dharma and Hindu scriptures, was the Guest of Honour. Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa, President, ISKCON Bangalore & Founder- Chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation and Sri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Senior Vice President of ISKCON Bangalore and Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Akshaya Patra, presided over the event. A large gathering of devotees, donors, and well-wishers attended the programme.
It may be recalled that the Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad conferred the esteemed honour ‘Vishwaguru’ upon His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. HH Kailashananda Giri Maharaj, along with Mahamandaleshwars from other Akharas, honoured Srila Prabhupada for his invaluable contributions to the world and Sanatana Dharma.
Srila Prabhupada is an empowered Vaishnava Acharya who appeared in the sacred Sri Brahma-Madhwa-Gaudiya Sampradaya. He took our timeless ancient wisdom, Bharatiya culture and way of life beyond the shores of India. His pioneering efforts to propagate the message of Lord Krishna have transformed lakhs of people all over the world.
The Sambhramotsava commenced with invocation prayers and ecstatic Harinam Sankirtan, followed by inspiring talks by the dignitaries. The audience also watched a video compilation of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, appreciating Srila Prabhupada’s contributions, along with glimpses of the Maha Kumbh programme.The event culminated with Guru Puja for Srila Prabhupada and distribution of sumptuous Krishna Prasadam to everyone.
Speaking on the occasion, HH Sri Kailashananda Giri Maharaj said, “It is our good fortune that we were chosen by Lord Krishna Himself with the rare privilege and opportunity to confer the Vishwaguru honour upon Srila Prabhupada during the auspicious Maha Kumbh Mela in the sacred land of Prayagraj in 2025.
We later commemorated this event in Udupi in the presence of HH Sri Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji of Sri Puthige Math. Today we are reliving that momentous occasion in Srila Prabhupada’s own temple. I am very happy to be here in this wonderful ISKCON Bangalore temple on Hare Krishna Hill. This joyous celebration should become an ongoing Mahotsava and should be extended to many other locations.
