Bengaluru, October 03 (Karnataka News):
Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) has decided to launch Mayura Ruchi on Wheels – a service with the aim of providing quality, clean and delicious food to tourists visiting major tourist destinations at their doorstep, said Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George.
The main objective of this project is to take the food prepared at KSTDC’s Mayura hotels to tourist destinations where most tourists flock, rather than limiting it to the hotel premises.
It is planned to deploy food vans in a phased manner in major tourist areas such as Hampi, Madikeri, Jog Falls, Mysore, Nandi Hills and Bengaluru.
KSTDC operates 24 Mayura hotels across the state, some of which are located far from the main tourist hubs. In this context, a new mobile service model has been devised to deliver quality food from Mayura hotels directly to tourists.
The aim of Mayura Ruchi on Wheels is to provide popular breakfasts, snacks, meals and selected regional dishes from different parts of Karnataka, and also introduce tourists to the state’s food diversity.
“Tourists should not only see a great destination but also experience great food. This new project, which will bring the taste and quality of Mayura hotels to the tourists, will further enhance the tourist experience. Local food will also be promoted, which will help create employment opportunities and increase the income of KSTDC,” he said.
KSTDC President M. Srinivas said, “Under the guidance of Minister K.J. George, KSTDC is taking up such a mobile food service initiative for the first time. Our aim is to make quality food from Mayura available at places where tourists flock. Giving priority to local dishes will also create employment and business opportunities for the locals,” he said.
Tourism Secretary Dr. Ram Prasat Manohar said, “Food is an important part of the tourist experience. Through ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’, KSTDC’s hospitality services are being extended beyond hotels. The aim of this project is to bring together local food culture, quality service and tourist convenience — all three on a single platform,” he said.
