The 54th KVS Regional Sports Meet 2025 for Kabaddi and Boxing was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at PM Shri KV MEG & Centre, Bengaluru today. A total of 128 participants from 12 schools in Bengaluru Region registered for Kabaddi Under-17 Boys and 34 (27 Boys and 7 Girls) participants for Boxing.
The Inaugural Ceremony began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Smt. Hema K, Assistant Commissioner, KVS, RO Bengaluru Region, Mr. Shivlingappa, Chief Official, Karnataka Amateur Kabaddi Association, and Mr. Shanmugam, Chief Selector, Karnataka Amateur Kabaddi Association. The ceremony commenced with an invocation, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings.
This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Lokesh Bihari Sharma, Principal, KV MEG & Centre. He extended a warm welcome to all the participating schools and emphasized the importance of sports in fostering the spirit of sportsmanship. He shared that the event would span over six days—three days for boys and three for girls—and wished all participants the very best, calling each participant a “shining star.”
In her inspiring speech, Smt. Hema K praised the students for dedicating their time to physical activity and resisting the lure of digital distractions in today’s gadget-driven world. She encouraged the young athletes and reminded them that “Winning is always a happy occasion,” while participation and effort are equally important.
The sports meet was officially declared open by the Chief Guest, followed by the release of tricolour balloons, symbolizing the spirit of unity and celebration.
The oath-taking ceremony was led by Master Subham Singh of Class VIII-C, representing the commitment and integrity of all the participants. Later, the Chief Guest interacted with the students by walking amidst them, appreciating their enthusiasm and wishing them success in the upcoming competitions.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Harikiran, who expressed deep gratitude to everyone involved in the successful organization of the event.
