 36 HOURS OF AMAZON GREAT INDIAN FESTIVAL – CUSTOMER & SELLER TRENDS ·         Amazon.in flagged off the biggest ever 36 hours of shopping with Prime Early Access and day 1 of the Great Indian Festival. Amazon.in saw single largest day of Prime sign ups; 1.9X higher than last year with 68% coming from Tier 2 & 3 cities.·

75% of the customers came from tier 2 & tier 3 towns·  We saw 2X more customers from Tier 2 and 3 cities compared to last year·  More than 500 million Indians had access to cashback and EMI offers on Amazon.in with 50% more customers opting for EMI or Pay later over last year·

Smartphones, Consumer Electronics, Fashion, and Groceries category attracted most new-customer; high demand for laptops and other work from home and School from home essentials; 5G smartphones saw a strong uptake alongside customers showing a preference for mid-tier to premium smartphones·

More than 50% of all Diamonds* (Amazon’s festive reward program) credited to customer accounts were redeemed for offers and rewards in the first 36 hours·

More than 60% of sales for Amazon Fashion came from Tier 2 and 3 cities; Amazon Beauty saw a 6X spike from customer favourite brands**·

Customers preferred television brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Mi, LG, and Sony, leading to record sales of TVs·

In the first 36 hours, small and medium businesses, startups, artisans, and women entrepreneurs offered the largest selection of products; around 10 lakhs unique products sold; 1.75X growth of seller sign-ups during Prime Early Access versus an average business day·

Amazon Business witnessed 50% growth in customers and 100% orders in the last 36 hours·         Amazon Fresh grew by over 2.5X over an average business day·

Customers love Amazon Devices, with Fire TV Stick recording a 40X growth and Echo Dot 35X growth versus average business day

It includes over 2000 new product launches and a wide selection from top brands.

Every year, tens and thousands of associates and partners across our fulfilment centers, sortation centers, and delivery stations prepare for the GIF. Amazon India has over 50 Fulfilment Centers, Sortation Centers across 19 states, and over 1850 Amazon-owned and partner stations that are gearing up for the festive season, along with 28,000 ‘I Have Space’ partners and thousands of Amazon Flex delivery partners ready to deliver smiles to customers across the country. We have recently strengthened operational engagement with the Indian Railways, with more than 325 inter-city transportation lanes for the movement of customer packages. This is a 5X increase in railway lanes since we began working with the Indian Railways in 2019 and is one of the enablers to offer 1-day and 2-day delivery promises to customers in the hinterlands of the country.
