The SFPI (Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives) staged a brilliant performance by the Ranjani and Gayatri Sisters at ‘Sangamam’, the family’s new Initiative to celebrate and promote Indian art and culture. The Music festival took place at the Jyoti Nivas College Auditorium and was felicitated by Mr. Shibulal and Mrs. Kumari Shibulal, Founder & Chairperson of SFPI. The festival itself was Inspired by Infosys Co-founder’s passion for Carnatic classical music.For any art form to thrive in India, there is a need to promote and sustain it at the highest quality while keeping things like access, engagement and appeal in Mind. Sangamam aims to do this with carnatic music, viewing it as an instrument to influence and excite today’s youth about the classical arts. With the success of the first concert, the family looks forward to having many more throughout the year, and being able to reach the ears of the music enthusiasts across our country in their mission to rejuvenate art and culture.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs Kumari Shibulal revealed that she and her husband were big fans of the singing duo and that they were delighted to watch them perform at the launch of their program. “Sangamam is the latest initiative of SFPI. Through Sangamam, we plan to encourage and celebrate Indian Art and Culture.” she said
The artists featured at the festival, The Ranjini – Gayatri Sisters, performed synonymously with the idea behind ‘Sangamam’, as a confluence of two musicians coming together. Audiences were eagerly awaiting the Ragam Thanam Pallavis, and the sisters did not disappoint. While the performance itself was ethereal, the electrifying atmosphere of the packed auditorium which seats 1200 further enhanced the experience for the listeners.
“We were very excited about performing in our favorite city, Bengaluru, after a break. We enjoyed the process of selecting pieces to go with the theme of Sangamam. From ragas, verses to Ragam Thanam Pallavi to abhang, the concert was a novel and engaging one for us.. More power to the Shibulal family for serving the cause of classical music by coming up with such a festival!” said the Ranjini – Gayatri Sisters, enthralled with the audience response to the concert.
