As per the pump sets allocated to the state by MNRE under PM Kusum-C scheme, about 3000 MW capacity solar projects will be set up.

In the Legislative Council today, Legislative Council member T. N. Javarai Gowda replied in writing to the question of dot identification. In the state, 2592 people are currently enrolled in 415 places under the P. M. Kusum scheme. Work orders have been issued for projects with a capacity of 410 MW and the tender process is in progress for the remaining capacity of about 410 MW.
Of the projects that have been mandated, 213 MW capacity projects have been implemented, 1190 MW capacity projects are in progress and 1189 MW capacity projects are yet to be undertaken, he said.
Progress review meetings are being held from time to time to remove any hurdles related to the project. In case the required private/government land is not available, the pond lands are identified and The projects have been implemented without harming the environment, after obtaining approval from the relevant authorities.
A joint circular has already been issued by the Revenue and Energy Departments to reserve government land for this project in places where suitable government land is available near substations.
Right of Use Rates (RUR) are collected from solar developers at a fixed rate of Rs. 25,000/- per acre per year for government lands reserved by the Revenue Department for the Energy Department, with a 5% escalation on base rate every 2 years.
He said that a government order has been issued to carry out development works at IIM with the collected funds.

To detect cases of electricity theft and misuse of electricity in the state and to take appropriate action as per the rules, the electricity supply companies
Vigilance Unit is formed under the leadership of Superintendent of Police/Deputy Superintendent of Police and Executive Engineer (V) and is established at each district level. The Vigilance Force is manned by Police Inspector/Sub-Inspector along with Assistant Executive Engineer (V) and Police personnel in the Police Stations. The Vigilance Force is responsible for the local power supply. Energy Minister K. J. George said that the work is being done in coordination with the officials and staff of the companies.
Speaking in the Legislative Council today, while answering a question about the identity of Legislative Council member Suraj Revanna, he said that the Vigilance Unit regularly conducts Measures are being taken to prevent cases of electricity theft/misuse by conducting inspections/surprise raids, and as soon as electricity theft is detected, The electricity supply companies are shutting down the electricity and registering a case as per the rules. Also, special cases are being registered at each local police station level. Raid teams are also being formed and mass inspections are being conducted. In this context, if electricity theft/misuse is found, appropriate action is being taken as per the rules. The Vigilance Unit has been investigating Non-Cognizable and Cognizable cases under Sections 126 and 135 of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003 respectively. Cases are registered at police stations, investigated and fines are being imposed as per the electricity supply regulations prescribed by KERC.
He said that cases registered under Section 135 will be tried in special courts.
