Union Minister JP Nadda to deliver keynote address on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat”
Policy makers and stakeholders to deliberate on the future of India’s rapidly expanding MedTech sector
Conference Sessions to address various issues from Component Manufacturing to Innovative Therapies for Universal Health Coverage
The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), is set to host the 9th edition of India Medical Device 2026 on 7–8 August 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The flagship conference, themed “Towards Viksit Bharat: Advancing India as a Global Hub for Quality Medical Devices,” will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, healthcare professionals, innovators, researchers, investors and other stakeholders to deliberate on the future of India’s rapidly expanding medical devices sector.
Smt Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers, Government of India will inaugurate the conference on 7th August, 2026. Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda will deliver the keynote address on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat” on 8 August 2026. The event will also be graced by Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals; Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), Dr. M. Srinivas, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, senior government officials, industry experts, CEOs of leading medical device companies, start-ups, academia and healthcare institutions.
Ahead of the conference, Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, said, “India Medical Device 2026 will provide a premier platform to showcase India’s growing MedTech capabilities, strengthen global partnerships, foster innovation and quality manufacturing, and chart the roadmap for positioning India as a trusted global hub for quality medical devices. I invite all stakeholders to join us in advancing India’s vision of a globally competitive and innovation-driven MedTech ecosystem.”
Sharing the industry’s perspective, Tushar Sharma, Chair, FICCI Medical Devices Committee and Managing Director & GM, India & South Asia, Abbott Healthcare, highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between policymakers, industry, academia and healthcare experts. He noted that India Medical Device 2026 will provide an important platform for driving meaningful dialogue, fostering partnerships and accelerating the growth of India’s medical devices ecosystem.
The two-day conference will feature high-level plenary sessions, thematic discussions and industry interactions on key priorities shaping the MedTech sector. Session 1 will focus on “Medical Device Component Manufacturing in India : Promoting Atmanirbharta through Localization,” while a parallel workshop will deliberate on the efficient utilisation of existing testing laboratory infrastructure for the medical device industry. Session 2 will examine “Building Technology Leadership in High-Impact and High-Volume Medical Devices,” alongside a parallel session on “Use of AI in Healthcare and Emergence of India as a SaMD Powerhouse.” Session 3 will deliberate on “Strengthening Clinical Evidence for Quality Medical Devices: Regulatory Pathways and Data Generation,” with a parallel discussion on “Transforming India’s Medical Device Sector into an Export Powerhouse.” The first day will conclude with a roundtable on “Strengthening Service & Maintenance Ecosystem for Medical Equipment in India.” On the second day, the conference will feature a Session on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat,” followed by an exclusive CEO Roundtable with the Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilisers and Session 4 on “Reimbursement Mechanisms for Innovative Therapies in India’s Path to Universal Health Coverage (UHC).”
The conference will witness participation from leading MedTech companies, including GE HealthCare, Abbott Healthcare, Philips India, Medtronic India, Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd. and several other leading industry players, alongside representatives from government, healthcare institutions, research organisations and academia.
