Candidates must read Kuvempu’s literature before becoming officers: Senior IPS Officer Ravi D. Channannavar
Mysuru / Bengaluru, September 19 (Karnataka Information):
Senior IPS officer Ravi D. Channannavar said that candidates must read the literature of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu before joining government service and becoming officers.
Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the KPSC and KEA training camp organised by the Competitive Examination Training Centre of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), he referred to Kuvempu’s famous works, including the plays ‘Beralge Koral’, ‘Smashana Kurukshetra’ and ‘Shudra Tapaswi’. He said that merely reading laws and administering affairs does not make a person a people-friendly officer. Kuvempu’s literature serves as a guiding light to understand the pulse of society, equality and social justice, he said.
He advised candidates that success in competitive examinations requires hard work, positive thinking, strict adherence to time and systematic preparation based on question papers from the past ten years.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar, who spoke on the occasion, appreciated KSOU for providing free training. He wished the candidates well, saying that they should develop creativity before entering administrative positions and that their responsibility towards society is greater as executive officials are responsible for implementing the schemes introduced by the legislature.
Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner M.K. Savita, who released the study material, recalled the guidance provided by the ‘Jnanabutti’ organisation during her competitive examination days. She said that such free training institutions are a boon to rural and economically disadvantaged students.
Presiding over the programme, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.P. Gnanaprakash advised students not to limit themselves to textbooks, but to prepare notes and develop communication, technology and independent decision-making skills.
KSOU Management Board member Manju, Registrar Prof. S.K. Naveen Kumar, Dean of Academics Ramanatham Naidu, Centre Coordinator Jayanahalli Satyanarayanagowda, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology Dr. Manjunath, Ganesh K.G. Koppal and several other dignitaries were present.
