Arogya World Hosts #RunInRed With 1500+ Bengalureans To Raise Awareness on Women’s Heart Health

Arogya World, a leading global health non-profit dedicated to preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through health education and lifestyle changes, successfully hosted a Run In Red initiative in Bengaluru on 9th March,2025. This event, held at Christ University, Koramangala, witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 1,500 participants joining the movement to highlight the importance of physical activity in reducing heart disease risk among women.

Dressed in red as a symbol of solidarity, participants came together to champion the cause of women’s heart health. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among women, yet awareness remains alarmingly low. According to the Indian Heart Association Report 2023, one in five Indian women is at risk, and over 70% do not undergo regular screenings, often missing early warning signs. To combat this, MyThali by Arogya World launched the #RedForHer campaign in 2022, encouraging individuals to wear red and engage in physical activity to raise awareness. Over the years, this initiative has reached millions through digital advocacy, Instagram filters, heart-healthy recipes, and on-ground events like Run In Red. In 2024, the campaign was recognized as the “Health Awareness Campaign of the Year” by ET HealthWorld.

This year’s Run In Red was flagged off with an empowering speech by Father Jose CC, Vice Chancellor, Christ University, setting the tone for a powerful morning of awareness and action. The event kicked off with a Zumba warm-up, energizing the crowd before the 3KM and 5KM walkathon. Participants also benefited from expert consultations and free health screenings conducted by Arogya World’s Wellness Partners, including Ai Steth, Bridge Health, Clinikk, Philips, InToTo, LiveAltLife, GreenPath Organics, and Mpower.

Nalini Saligram, Ph.D. Founder & CEO Arogya World further said, “At Arogya World, we know from science that diabetes and heart disease are preventable, not inevitable. In fact, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women – something that is largely underappreciated.  Through our Run In Red event, we mark International Women’s Day, shine a spotlight on women’s heart health, and encourage women to take charge and adopt healthy lifestyles. A special thank you goes out to Christ University, Marriott International, Arogya City Pledgemakers, and all 1500+ Bengalureans who joined us in this movement.”

Christ University’s Hotel Management Department and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) team jointly collaborated with Arogya World to make this run a seamless experience! With their expertise, they provided the perfect space for the event while extending a helping hand with their student volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly. Adding to the energy, the renowned Marriott International fuelled the runners with nutritious snacks and refreshing beverages. It was a collaboration of excellence, hospitality, and community spirit—because every great run starts with great support!

Dr Jain Mathew, Dean, School of Business and Management, Christ University highlighted, “The Run In Red Marathon was a vibrant celebration of women’s strength and health, perfectly timed for International Women’s Day. As I watched countless participants in their red attire, their determination not only highlighted the importance of physical fitness but also served as a powerful reminder of the resilience & spirit of women everywhere. Each stride resonated with the importance of prioritising physical fitness, transforming the event into a powerful movement that encouraged all ages to embrace their wellness journey.”

Dr Kerwin Savio Nigli, Head, Department of Hotel Management Christ University added, “This event was designed to raise awareness about women’s heart health while providing hospitality students with a valuable experiential learning opportunity. Students had the chance to organize and collaborate on an event that attracted over 1,500 participants.”

In 2024, Bengaluru’s Run In Red event saw 500+ participants, but this year, the initiative has grown exponentially—bringing together a larger and stronger community committed to women’s heart health. Through awareness, education, and collective action, Arogya World continues to drive meaningful change in preventive healthcare.
