Bangalore University and ICSI Bangalore Chapter sign agreement to collaborate in Education

Bengaluru, March 1: An agreement has been signed between the Company Secretaries of India – Bangalore Chapter and Bangalore University to collaborate in education, and soon, cooperation in educational activities will begin, said C.S. Dhananjay Shukla, the newly elected National President of ICSI.

Speaking at a press conference, he mentioned that the agreement was signed last October with Bangalore University. Today, with the presence of Registrar Sheikh Lateef and Deans of the University, detailed discussions were held regarding mutual cooperation in academics, enhancing curriculum, and establishing industry partnerships. This partnership will benefit 298 colleges under Bangalore University and ICSI. Discussions were also held regarding the form of partnership, and now a platform is ready for a new dimension in the educational sector, he said.

In Karnataka, a total of 12,170 students are studying Company Secretary courses. ICSI also has partnerships with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Bangalore and Christ University. Under the CSR activities, ICSI has been providing free education to daughters of soldiers who have died in service to the country, and since 2017, a fund of 41 lakh rupees has been raised for this cause. Discounts on fees are also provided for students from scheduled castes, tribes, and differently-abled communities. There is significant demand for Company Secretary courses, and by 2030, 30,000 additional positions are expected to be created. ICSI has also entered into a knowledge-sharing agreement with the Science Olympiad Foundation, he added.

ICSI Vice President Pavan G. Chandak stated that communication skills are crucial for the corporate world, and to enhance the ability to think and speak effectively, the “Discussion with Society” program is being introduced. Revolutionary steps in social governance and auditing are being integrated into e-learning, he said.

Central Board Member C. Dwarkanath Manatadi mentioned that those completing the Company Secretary courses will undergo 24 months of rigorous training, which will help them gain practical work experience. Trainees will receive a stipend of up to 10,000 rupees, he added.

Former President of ICSI, Pradeep B. Kulkarni, mentioned that the Company Secretary courses are recognized by the International Financial Services Authority and SEBI, and have gained a new status in the corporate sector. He also proudly shared that three students from Bengaluru have recently ranked top in the exams.

ICSI Bangalore Chapter President C.S. Devika Satyanarayana expressed confidence that the collaboration with Bangalore University will provide global recognition to educational activities.
