CII Yi, Bengaluru with a focus on increasing accessibility in the city, in collaboration with Sankara Eye Hospital launched its initiative with Hotel Empire to enable a “Braille Menu” across its 31 outlets in Bengaluru. This drive makesthe restaurant more accessible to millions of customers who are blind or have low vision, creating an inclusive society for all. The partnership is aimed to work with other hoteliers in the city and to convert their restaurant menu to braille to create awareness and move one step towards inclusion.
Mr Aravind, Chapter Chair said that “Young Indians believes that as young leaders, we need to ensure that every visually impaired person is empowered and can be independent. This is another initiative to create awareness about being inclusive. We invite other hoteliers to reach out to us so that more restaurants across Bengaluru can be accessible”
“We come across many visually impaired who are able to resume their routine work with training in orientation mobility or using assistive technology and devices. These persons are still dependent on their friends and family to help them order their food when they eat out.
