Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Vibhu Bakru opined that environmental protection is the duty of all of us and that it is our responsibility to create a better society and a better environment with the aim of doing good work for the society and as a model for the next generation.
As part of the celebration of “World Environment Day-2026”, he inaugurated the program organized today at the premises of the Karnataka Medical Council in collaboration with the Karnataka High Court, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Forest Department, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Karnataka Veterinary Board and Dhare Foundation by planting saplings.
He said that the Karnataka High Court, in collaboration with other organizations, has set a target of planting 5 crore saplings across the state for the protection of the environment. Today, a very big initiative has been symbolically launched by planting saplings on the premises of the Karnataka Medical Council. 5,000 saplings will be planted on the premises of the Karnataka Medical Council.
The event was attended by Mrs. Anu Sivaraman, Judge of the Karnataka High Court and Executive Chairperson of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, H. Shashidhar Shetty, Member Secretary of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority and other dignitaries.
