Mangaluru, September 5,2025: Residents of Mangaluru and the coastal belt of Karnataka will now have access to advanced eye care with the launch of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital at Kankanady, Mahaveer Circle. Spread across 15,000 sq. ft., the new facility is equipped with next-generation diagnostic and surgical technology, bringing a wide range of super-specialty ophthalmic services under one roof. The hospital aims to reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities such as Bengaluru or Chennai for treatment.
The inauguration was graced by U.T. Khader Fareed, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, as Chief Guest, along with Guests of Honour Captain Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), and D. Vedavyas Kamath, MLA. Eminent dignitaries from the medical fraternity, including Dr. H R Thimmaiah, DHO, Dakshina Kannada; Dr Jessy Maria Goveas D’Souza, IMA President, Mangaluru; and Lt. Colonel Dr Zahid Ali Khan, Senior Manager – Health Services & CMO, MRPL, were also present.

The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment, including OCT, retinal laser systems, corneal topography, optical bio meter and Zeiss microscope-based surgical platforms. It is designed to handle up to 500 patients a day and also houses a viewing gallery for its Operation theatre, in-house opticals, laboratory, pharmacy (9 am–8 pm), GA back-up, ample parking, and advanced investigation suites.
Specialized services offered at the hospital include cataract surgery, corneal services, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma management, pediatric ophthalmology, Lasik & ReLEx SMILE, retinal surgeries, squint management, oculoplasty, uvea, neuro-ophthalmology, and general ophthalmology.
