Langkawi, 28 March 2019: Malaysia Airlines and the Department of Polytechnic and Community Education under the Ministry of Education, today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide students the opportunity to learn and conduct hands-on training at its Engineering facilities.
Under the MoU, Malaysia Airlines will be supporting students from Politeknik Banting Selangor (PBS) with maintenance and technical training for five years beginning March 2019.
The exchange of documents for the MoU was held during LIMA ’19 between Malaysia Airlines’ Group Chief Operations Officer, Ahmad Luqman B. Mohd Azmi and Director General of Department of Polytechnics and Community College, Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mohd Ismail Bin Abd Aziz. The event was witnessed by Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, the Honorable Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Secretary General of Ministry of Transport, Mohd Khairul Adib bin Abd Rahman.
Malaysia Group Chief Executive Officer, Captain Izham Ismail said, “MAB Engineering is an internationally recognised Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility and we are proud to be the learning centre for students from PBS. We have been collaborating with PBS since December 2013 and this MoU is testament of our commitment in developing and nurturing new talent in the aviation industry. To date, Malaysia Airlines has trained over 300 students from PBS majoring in the Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance (DAM) and we look forward to train more students in the future.”
Under the MoU Malaysia Airlines will also be training the lecturers via the Train-the-Trainer programme ensuring they are kept up to date on the latest training modules approved by the Civil Aviation Association Malaysia (CAAM).
Through this partnership, students from PBS will be provided not only a quality learning programme but more importantly, invaluable on-the-job training offered by MAB Engineering.
