Dec 01, 2024:
In the past few months, the Hindu community has come under attack in Bangladesh. Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha and a prominent devotee leader, was arrested by the Dhaka police, recently. Temples are being targeted, and the followers of Sanatana Dharma are under serious threats. The fanatic mob also killed many people during their attacks. Such attacks on the Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh have been going on. This needs to stop.
These targeted attacks on peaceful, law-abiding communities have shaken the collective consciousness of humanity. As a means to demand protection for these vulnerable people, the ISKCON movement organised the Sankirtan programme all over the world. The Global Sankirtan event is a peaceful demonstration of the pain and grief of the global Hindu community, which stands in solidarity with the Hindus of Bangladesh. We are not against Bangladesh or any religious community there. We are only demanding the safety of all the minorities in Bangladesh through this programme.
ISKCON Bangalore also organised a peaceful Sankirtan on the Hare Krishna Hill to express solidarity with the persecuted minorities of Bangladesh. Renowned spiritual leaders like Sri Vishvaprasanna Teertha Swamiji, Pejawar Mutt, devotees and well-wishers extended their support to the ISKCON community by participating in the event and offering prayers to Lord Krishna.
Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman and Mentor of the Global Hare Krishna Movement and President of ISKCON Bangalore, said, “We have come across disturbing reports about the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. We are deeply concerned about the situation and expect the Government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, ISKCON devotees and all other persecuted minority communities. We also request the Government of India to work with our neighbouring countries and protect the rights of minorities in the region. We conducted Sankirtan in our temple today to express our support and solidarity with the victims and pray for their well-being. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us in our programme seeking the protection and blessings of Sri Radha Krishnachandra for restoring peace in Bangladesh.”
