Bengaluru July 09, 2022: The Sri Sathya Ganapati Shirdi Sai Temple in JP Nagar was decorated with as many as one lakh sports materials and toys on the occasion of Guru Purnima Day.
Guru Purnima is a tradition dedicated to all the spiritual and academic gurus. It is observed by Sri Sathya Ganapati Shirdi Sai Temple every year.
“Sports especially traditional sports play a very important role in our life. Engaging in daily sports activities increases physical and mental development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged sports activities through Khelo India Programme. The decoration with sports goods has been done keeping this n mind”, Rammohan Raj, Trustee of Sri Sathya Ganapati Shirdi Sai Temple said.
“Traditional game equipment like goli, bugari, gilli-danda as well as various sports equipment including cricket, tennis and hockey bats are used here. After the end of Gurupurnima, these materials will be given free to the needy by the temple Trust. Private and government schools, housing associations who require sports equipment can submit applications.” Rammohan Raj informed.
Last year three lakh tablets were used for decoration which were later distributed to the due to people to combat covid-10 epidemic. It was distributed to 1 lakh families. This time special decorations are being made using 50 different materials like children’s play materials.
The public can witness this special decoration for one week from July 13.
