The National Legal Services Authority in association with the Mediation“and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Hon’ble Supreme Court of“India, conceptualized the Special Mediation Drive Mediation “For the“Nation” 90 days’ drive under the guidance of Hon’ble the Chief Justice of“India and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India“and Executive Chairman, NALSA and Chairman, MCPC.
The “Mediation – For the Nation” Campaign is launched across the length and breadth of India. It was a 90 days’ intensive drive to settle pending cases in all the Taluka Courts, District Courts and High Courts of India through Mediation from 1st July 2025 to 06th October, 2025, as per approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
As per the directions of National Legal Services Authority and Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), New Delhi and the Hon’ble Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka and PatroninChief and Executive Chairman, KSLSA, Bengaluru, the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority has organised the Special Campaign to settle the cases pending in all the Taluka Courts, District Courts and High Courts, through Mediation process from 1st July 2025 to 06th October, 2025.
In the State of Karnataka, 01 Karnataka Mediation Centre and 28 District Mediation Centres are functional. Karnataka Mediation Centre monitors the cases from High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru Urban and Rural Courts within the City limits. Remaining 28 District Mediation Centres are being monitored by KSLSA through DLSAs.
The process of Special Mediation Drive in the State is monitored by State Level Mediation Committee, consisting of six Hon’ble Judges of High Court of Karnataka.The Special Campaign was conducted from 01.07.2025 to
06.10.2025 by Karnataka Mediation Centre (Prl.Bench at High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru Urban and Rural Courts within City limits), the benches at High Court of Karnataka, Dharwad and Kalaburagi and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) and Taluka Legal Services Committees (TLSCs) across the State.
The pendency in the Courts (pertaining to category of cases specified in the SOP of MCPC) as on 01.07.2025 was 13,86,837 cases before Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka and District Courts. Out of those cases 76,197 cases were identified and referred to Mediation Centres. The Mediation was taken place in 46,676 cases. In which 5,524 cases were settled and 25,696 cases were unsettled and remaining 15,456 cases are still to be mediated and the process will continue in all Mediation Centres in the State.
HIGHLIGHTS OF SPECIAL CAMPAIGN:
1. Matrimonial Cases & Domestic Violence Cases: Total 3,038 (2862+176) Matrimonial cases are settled including cases under Section 125 of Cr. P.C & Prevention of Domestic Violence Act.
2. Partition Suits: Total 649 partition suits are settled.
3. Accident Claims Cases: Total 104 MVC cases are settled in the Special Campaign.
4. Cheque Bounce Cases: Total 668 NI Act cases are settled.
5. Commercial Disputes Cases: Totally, 21 Commercial Dispute cases are settled.
6. Criminal Compoundable Cases: Totally, 188 Criminal Compoundable Cases are settled.
7. DRT Cases : Totally, 40 cases are settled.
8. Consumer Cases: Total 8 cases are settled.
9. Old Cases settled in this Special Campaign Mediation Drive:
10.In 163 cases, the Senior Citizens are benefited in this Special Mediation Drive.
11.Reunion cases: Total 159 couples are reunited due to conciliation in the Special Mediation Drive.

Pandit, Hon’ble Justice Ashok.S.Kinagi, Hon’ble Justice Suraj Govindaraj, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Jyoti Mulimani and Hon’ble Justice M.I.Arun, Hon’ble Members’ of the State Level Mediation Committee have appreciated the efforts put in by the stakeholders for the success of the Special Campaign. Their Lordships have expressed their happiness for disposal of 5,524 record number of cases in the Special 6 Mediation Campaign.
