The purpose of the cooperation week is to create public awareness about the principle and practice of cooperation, and the programs held during the week should be related to public awareness, MLA and regular president of the Karnataka State Cooperative Mahamandal GT Deve Gowda said.
He spoke at the inauguration of the 71st All India Cooperation Week-2024 at the Jnana Jyoti Hall of the Central College campus today and by offering floral tributes to the portraits of Fathers of Cooperation, Siddanga Gowda Sunaraman Gowda Patil, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.
Co-operation Week is observed for seven days from November 14 to 20. November 14 is the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who in the Five Year Plan gave many projects to the cooperative sector. He strongly believed that India’s economic gateway was the cooperative sector. Therefore, on his birthday, the cooperation week is celebrated in a festive manner, he said.
As Mahatma Gandhi said, every village should have a cooperative sector. All welfare programs for farmers should be done through cooperative sectors. The education sector should start. He said that only when everyone is educated, Utopia can become like the dream of Mahatma Gandhi.
There are 47 thousand cooperative sectors in the state, deposits of 2 lakh crores have been kept and we are giving loans of 2 lakh crores. In this regard, posts should be reserved for those educated in cooperative sectors in cooperative banks and cooperative sectors and strict action should be taken against those who are abused in these sectors. He wanted to lay a solid foundation for the cooperative sector under the leadership of the Minister of Cooperation.
Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna released a special issue of “Cooperative Magazine” and said that the week is being celebrated with the mission of role of cooperatives in building “Developed India”, “We are determined to strengthen the cooperative movement through the new efforts of the Ministry of Cooperation. All the co-operatives in the state should strengthen the co-operative movement. He wanted to take the lead in the state of cooperation movement at the national level.
Co-operative movement should establish institutions according to their demands. The government has not tried to exert much influence in the co-operative movement. Working as a cooperative movement is a matter of pride. He said that if the cooperative sector is to work well, there are some obstacles and they will be amended.
Efforts will be made to reserve posts in cooperative banks and cooperative sectors for those who have received education and training in cooperative sectors. Collaborators should support those who do well. After coming to the organization, political thinking is excluded, and when it comes inside, the prosperity of cooperatives is possible. He said that they should realize their responsibilities in the fields of cooperation and work.
