Bengaluru, October 23 (Karnataka News):
Dr. Thippeswamy K.T., a member of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, has recommended to the government that there is an urgent need to declare the month of November as “Children’s Month” and give special priority to the protection of children, as cases of child abuse, underage girl pregnancy and child marriage have been reported recently.
He said that it would be appropriate to formulate an action plan and implement various programs from the grassroots to the state level in collaboration with various departments and voluntary organizations, including child rights village assemblies, child-friendly gram panchayat campaigns, identification and protection of child laborers and school dropouts, strengthening of child protection committees, implementation of the Child Protection Policy-2016 and the open house program in educational institutions, identification of orphans and children in distress, promotion of children’s helplines and adoption programs, throughout the month of November.
Children’s Day is celebrated every year on November 14. Various programs are organized on that day itself. But this time, he expressed the opinion that organizing programs to create widespread awareness in the society for the entire month will give momentum to the protection of children’s rights.
