The “Losail International Circuit” near Doha, in the deserts of Qatar, hosted the final round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship 2018 at the weekend. The schedule featured the final two races of the year, on Friday and Saturday. Loris Baz (FRA), of the Gulf Althea BMW team, rounded off the season by recording another top-six placing with his BMW S 1000 RR having finished the first race on Friday in sixth place.
That became last race of the year, as the desert circuit was then battered by storms so severe that Saturday’s event had to be called off. Extreme downpours and a massive sandstorm led to extremely poor track conditions with standing water on the asphalt. For security reasons, the decision was made to abandon the second race.

Two weeks after the finale in the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), the NextGen Motorsports Team returned to compete at the renowned “Phillip Island Circuit” south-east of Melbourne (AUS). Three Superbike races took place as part of the supporting programme for the MotoGP Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. BMW racer Glenn Allerton (AUS) was one of the top performers in a starting field that boasted some outstanding riders.
Racing against names such as Troy Bayliss (AUS) and Troy Herfoss (AUS), Allerton claimed one win, one second place and one third place. After adding up the results from all the races, Allerton secured second place on the podium in the overall standings for the Superbike meeting.
