“Cinema is not only about making people dream. It’s about changing things and making people think.” ~ Nadine Labaki – Lebanese actress, director and activist
13 November 2019, Bengaluru: UB City is gearing up to host the debut Edition of Film Bengaluru International Film Festival (FBIFF) 2019 from 15 – 17 November 2019. Organized in partnership with the UNESCO ,MGIEP the Festival focuses on the theme, “Kindness Matters”. Film Bengaluru is a search for our planet’s most enlightened filmmakers who use their art for celebrating kindness. Films bring us together and kindness bonds us. The most captivating and touching stories have been ones of kindness. The Festival will promote all explorations in film engaging with this theme.
Idea behind Bengaluru International Film Festival (FBIFF) 2019
The idea for the Festival came about when Uzma Irfan – Director, Prestige Group and Grammy award winning composer, Ricky Kej realised the need for a home-grown, independent international film festival that would give local audiences the opportunity to explore and be exposed to the immense talent that is present in the independent film making industry. The Festival also aims to provide a platform for local film-makers at the grass root level to gain international exposure.
FBIFF has been promoting the message of kindness and its importance in film-making in finalising the films for their debut Edition. This message also happened to be UNESCO MGIP’s focus for 2019, among their many SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Therefore, they were the ideal choice of partner for FBIFF to join hands with in promoting goodwill.
Some of the award-winning movies being showcased include:
Skin: Oscar live action short film award 2019
ARGHYAM: World premier
Holy Boom: Has been a part of more than 15 international film festivals
