Wellness and social impact entrepreneur, Upasana Kamineni Konidela, adopts a lion and a lioness named Vicky and Lakshmi at the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. She has undertaken this philanthropic activity in celebration of her beloved sister Anushpala’s wedding. By bringing together her wish to spread the joy of her sister’s marital union with her care for the present concerns of the world, she hopes to bring to light the need to reimagine traditional ways of celebration. As an environmentalist and wildlife enthusiast who is invested in the conservation of endangered animals, Upasana will take care of the expenses of the lions for one year from this date. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature lists lions as a vulnerable species, which are at a high risk of extinction in the near future. By making this contribution to actively look after their well-being, Upasana also wants to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our wildlife and ecosystems.
On this happy occasion, she provided lunch boxes for 450 employees at the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. By sharing her and her family’s joy with the society at large, she hopes to spread the spirit of love, happiness, and festive cheer that is at the core of every marital union.
