Bengaluru, October 28 (Karnataka News):
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called on the police personnel to work more efficiently, saying that just changing the cap is not enough.
He was speaking at the introduction and distribution of peak-cap to police personnel, inauguration of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and release of the Sanmitra manual organized by the Home Department at the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall today. I chose this new peaked cap after the Home Minister mentioned that there were several problems with the cap I had been wearing for nearly seventy years. The color is different, but it is similar to the cap worn by senior officials. “You will all wear this cap from now on. This will boost your self-confidence,” he said. You all look very handsome in this new blue peaked cap, designed as an alternative to the cap used by police constables.
This change will boost your self-confidence. You are all working efficiently, and you should continue to work even more efficiently in the future, he said.It is a matter of great joy that our state Home Department is ranked first in the country in India Justice. Now it is in your hands to make our state a drug-free state. You are capable in every way, so you should prevent others from coming to our state for investigation. You, who have the power to perceive any kind of crime, should not remain unnoticed when crimes are committed for any reason.Punishing criminals who commit minor offenses can prevent them from becoming even more serious criminals. He also instructed police officers and personnel not to have any kind of relationship with criminals.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who was present, congratulated the Home Department for taking a historic decision and giving great power to the police constables by giving them a new cap.Soldiers at the border and policemen inside the border are protecting us. Recently, cyber crimes have been increasing due to mobile phones. He said that the grassroots level personnel of the police department should work diligently to prevent this. Awareness should be raised about a system where every household can submit information about domestic helpers, drivers, cooks, watchmen, etc. to the respective local police station to prevent thefts in homes. This method has already been adopted by the Delhi Police. The minister, who is giving new guidelines to the department, said it would be appropriate to consult senior officers about adopting this system.
At the beginning of the program, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, who introduced the progress of the department, said that when I was the Home Minister in 2015, there was a demand to change the caps of constables. He said that the new cap has been provided in line with modern times, replacing the old cap, which was heavy in rainy conditions and did not provide protection for the head.As a preliminary step, samples of caps used in different states were reviewed. The Chief Minister himself chose this blue cap from the caps that were finally selected. He said that the same caps for officers and police personnel will boost the morale of the personnel. It has been two and a half years since the government came to power, and so far there have been no communal riots or any untoward incidents that have disrupted law and order in the state. He said that the reason for this is the efficient administration of our police officers and police personnel.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Anti-Drug Task Force, which has been formed to coordinate with national organizations as a key subsidiary of the Karnataka State to end the drug problem in the state.
Similarly, the Sanmitra program, which is planned to monitor drug addicts in order to bring them off drugs, will be implemented in cases where police department officers and personnel die while in service. He released manuals on the compensation provided and the health benefits schemes provided to them. The event was attended by Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Nasir Ahmed, MLA Rizwan Arshad, Assembly Chief Whip Ashok Pattan, Chief Secretary of the Government Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Director General and Inspector General of Police Dr. A.M.
