Vehicles to feed 8000 kids on daily basis
Yokogawa India Ltd, India’s leading process automation major has contributed 3 meal distribution vehicles to The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the world’s largest NGO run school meal program. The meal delivery vehicle will help transport hot, nutritious meals to the kids from the centralized kitchens to about 8,000 children daily in 40 schools each day.Sajiv Nath, MD, Yokogawa India flagged off the mid-day meal vehicles in the presence of Sridham Krishna Dasa, Director, Akshaya Patra Foundation at Akshaya PatraFoundation Office, ISKON, Bengaluru along with other dignitaries.
This is one of its kind initiative for Yokogawa India. The inauguration was followed by a quick visit to the Akshaya Patra kitchen to understand the process that caters the needs of millions of children on each school working day. The custom-designed vehicle is insulated to maintain optimal temperature, is dust-free and helps to retain the nutritional value of the meals.
Speaking on this occasion, Sridha Krishna Dasa, Director, Akshaya Patra Foundation, said, “We are thankful to Yokogawa India for their generous support and for pro-actively reaching out to us and sharing our vision of eliminating class room hunger in India. In fact, if Akshaya Patra has reached a cumulative serving of 3 billion meals in 2019, it is only due to the relentless support of many magnanimous donors such as Yokogawa.”
