Foodies from all over Bengaluru, fitness enthusiasts, charity homes, the expatriate community and the film fraternity found themselves eager to taste the record-breaking 60-foot-long sub specially created by 1MG-Lido Mall as part of the Foodie Fiesta (season five) at the mall. The attempt to create the sub by the mall as part of its social responsibility in sharing happiness with the community was a key milestone in bringing the community together.
Accompanied by the beats of dollu kunitha, a traditional drum dance from Karnataka, the music enthralled the mall with everyone cheering as the sub was being prepared by Food Hall chefs. While the sub was pieced together to completion, Shantamalappa, ACP Crime – East Division and Raja Imam Kasim P., ACP Traffic – East authenticated the record for the Limca Book of records. The submarine sandwich measured 60 feet 9 inches. Each and every ingredient of the submarine sandwich was provided by the F&B outlets present in 1MG – Lido Mall.
Suman Lahiri, Chief Operating Officer, 1MG – Lido Mall, said: “Being in Bengaluru’s central hub, we are always seeking ways to bring our community closer together and support social causes. We are delighted to have a successful go at the Limca Book of Records for the 60-ft-long sub with the help of our food and beverage outlets placed right here in the mall. It has been a wonderful experience to work together and promote community interactions.”
A portion of the sub was shared with the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation who will be distributing it to the children at their facility. Commented Sr. Lallama from the charity home, “We are touched to know that the 1MG – Lido Mall has reached out to the less fortunate in our community and are sharing with us a token of their love. We look forward to more support from the communities around us and together we can work towards reviving the less fortunate amongst us.”
Addressing the audience at the event, Dr. Kingmoohan, an actor who has more than 100 films in six languages to his credit and also the Chief Business Officer – Chisel Fitness, said, “It is wonderful to see 1MG – Lido Mall actually get into action and promote health and fitness across the Bengaluru community. Good food equates to good health and we look forward to an active and healthy lifestyle of our community here in Bengaluru.”
Smt. Mamatha Saravana, Corporator and Town Planning Member, Ward 90 and Sarvana, Ex Corporator, Ward 90 were also present on the occasion. Representatives from the Overseas Women’s Club comprising more than 30 nationalities also supported the event with their enthusiastic presence and participation.
Foodie Fiesta – Season Five is a culinary series being organised by 1MG – Lido Mall to showcase the best of food and beverages comprising Indian, coastal, Continental and Chinese cuisine. The five-part series will provide an opportunity to enjoy these exotic and gastronomic treats through the month of September.

As part of the month-long fest, a slew of activities are planned including cooking classes, cooking competitions and much more.
