Bengaluru, September 17, 2025: Mr. Chetan R, IPS, Commissioner for the Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports, Government of Karnataka inaugurated the 4- day National Ranking Wheelchair Tennis Tournament today at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) courts in Bengaluru.
Organized by the Karnataka Wheelchair Tennis Association (KWTA) in partnership with KSLTA, this historic event will run until September 20th, serving as a significant milestone in the advancement of wheelchair tennis across India.
Recognized by the All-India Tennis Association (AITA), the tournament is going to be a significant milestone, showcasing the incredible talent and unwavering spirit of India’s top wheelchair tennis athletes. Beyond a competition, this event is a movement to drive change and champion inclusion, celebrating athletes who overcome immense challenges on and off the court.

The KWTA, recently revitalized with a new and dedicated managing committee, is focused on a three-pronged mission which is spotting top-tier talent for national and international stages, building a strong base of promising new players and broadening the sport’s reach into smaller towns and cities. The association provides comprehensive support, including physical and mental fitness training, tailored diet plans and holistic well-being programs, ensuring athletes are empowered to reach their full potential.
