Bangalore, October 10, 2025: Greenwood High International School hosted the CISCE National Chess Championship 2025 at its campus, welcoming more than 500 players, coaches, and officials from fourteen regions across India. The event brought together some of the most promising young chess talents under the banner of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
The championship was inaugurated in the presence of Woman International Master Ms. Saritha Reddy, who attended as the Chief Guest, along with several dignitaries and representatives from participating regions. The inaugural ceremony also included a cultural programme by Greenwood High students consisting of dance, yoga, and music performances, creating a lively tone for the national meet.
The tournament was preceded by a procession of national chess champions, followed by a ceremony of oath-taking conducted by team captains to commit to fair play and sportsmanship. The atmosphere throughout the day reflected both competitive energy and mutual respect among participants.
Speaking about the occasion, Mrs. Niru Agarwal, Managing Trustee, Greenwood High International School, said, “It was a privilege to host this national-level tournament and welcome participants from across the country. Such events help young minds think strategically, develop discipline, and infuse a greater passion for the sport. They also offer great scope for students to engage, learn from each other, and present their talent on a national platform. The championship transformed the Greenwood High campus into a center of concentration, engagement, and education, as students and mentors shared their experiences and enthusiasm for chess. The event concluded on a note of camaraderie and achievement, reinforcing the value of chess as a sport that cultivates patience, precision, and intellectual growth.
