UDUPI, MAY 1 :- Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has said the people of Karnataka have got an opportunity to fulfil the wishes of Mahatma Gandhiji who wanted to dissolve the Congress party after India got independence.
Addressing day’s 2nd rally at Udupi in the afternoon Mr. Modi said over two-dozen innocent BJP workers were assassinated under the Congress regime. What crime they did?. If they would have opposed to Congress’ views, they should be fought politically. Instead, the Congress encouraged the culture of political violence. “We are making sincere efforts to ensure ease of doing business but Congress is encouraging the ease of doing murder”.
Witnessing the huge enthusiastic crowd at the MGM Ground in Udupi, Prime Minister said he was sensing that the people of Karnataka had decided to punish the Congress for misdeeds. Almost all states across the country had ousted Congress in the last 4 years, and now it was the turn of Karnataka. He was sure that the people of Karnataka would not miss this opportunity to punish the most corrupt Congress party. When he asked whether the Congress should be thrown out from Karnataka or not the cheering crowd cried “yes, yes”. Prime Minister said the people from coastal Karnataka had made name all over the world.
The Udupi people did a pioneering work in banking sector. “I had also got an opportunity to talk to Sri Gururaj Poojari, who got a weight lifting medal in recent Commonwealth Games” – he said amid applause. Congress should explain why poor people remained out banking system despite the nationalisation of banks in 1970s. The bitter truth was that Congress allowed a handful of people to loot banks, but denied loans to poor, youth and farmers. As many as 12 lakh crore people could open bank accounts under Jan Dhan scheme initiated by his government, Mr.Modi said.
Recalling the Sangha Parivar’s long association with Udupi, Prime Minister said the Temple Town remained party’s (Jana Sangh) bastion during 1970s when party flags were hardly seen in other parts of India. State BJP General Secretary and MP, Kum. Shobha Karandlaje welcomed.
Modi sees strong BJP wave in Karnataka
Later in the evening he addressed a mammoth gathering at Chikkodi in Belgaum district, and asserted BJP was all set to come to power with thumping majority in Karnataka. Political pandits were talking about hung assembly but after seeing crowds in party’s election rallies he could see the strong tide in favour of BJP, and Mr.. B. S. Yeddyurappa would become Chief Minister after the result. The Congress leaders cannot survive without power and have been carrying out misinformation campaign. They have indulged in divisive politics in Karnataka too. The Congress leaders are not able to digest the fact that a person from backward class has become Prime Minister. Even during 1940s and 50s, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar had to face the wrath of Congress leaders. They conspired and defeated Dr. Ambedkar in all the elections he contested Sri Modi said and urged the Congress to stop doing politics in the name of Dalits and poor.
He began his speech in Kannada by offering tribute to deity Savadatti Yellamma and great personalities of the region such as Santa Basaveshwara, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rani Kittur Chennamma and Belavadi Mallamma. KLE Chairman and MP, Mr. Prabhakar Kore were felicitated Mr.Modi with shaal and negilu (plough). MPs, Sri Pupendra Yadav, Mr. Prahlad Joshi, Mr.. Suresh Angadi and BJP candidates from the region were present.
