Canara Bank, a leading Public Sector Bank has organised an Outreach programme for Startups on 11.04.2023 at Bengaluru to explore the ways to reach out to Start-ups and to understand the contours of banking relationship to be established with the Start-Up ecosystem to stimulate mutual and inclusive growthin association withIBA.
The Outreach programme for startups was coordinated by Canara Bank wherein various start-ups, venture capitals, investors, Banks and other stakeholders of the start-up ecosystem attended the programme.
The participants were welcomed by SudhanshuSuman, General Manager, MSME Wing, Canara Bank.
Ashok Chandra, Executive Director of Canara Bank addressed the startups and highlighted the Banks’ initiatives to support Start-ups. Further, he added the future action plan of the Bank for providing end to end solutions to the Startups which includes creation of dedicated verticals and specialised Branches for easing the operations of Startups. He emphasized that Indian Startups may diversify their portfolio in light of the recent developments due to failure of few Banks in USA and other countries. Further, he also underlined the robustness of Banking & financial sector in India.
The programme was addressed by the eminent speakers, Mr. RavindraKrishnappa, a venture capital professional, Mr. Dinesh Goel, Startup Mentor & Angel investor, Mr. Siddhartha Anand, Vice President of Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), Ms. Prabhleen Kaur from Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Ms. Sunitha Prasad, Vice President at Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) also graced the occasion.
Further, there was an open house interactive session for start-ups to put forth their views/suggestions/queries to the panel members/representatives from the banking fraternity. Start-ups were also briefed about various initiatives of the GoI such as Funds of Funds scheme, Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS), numerous benefits extended to the start-ups and Support for Women Entrepreneurs etc.
