“Manthan-2026” Business Plan Competition to Empower the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

Higher Education Minister and Chairman of the Karnataka State Board of Higher Education, Basavaraja Rayareddy, said that if students are encouraged and exposed to more business plan competitions, they will become better industrialists and businessmen.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the grand finale of the 18th edition of the “Manthan” Business Plan Presentation-2026 Business Plan Competition program, organized in collaboration with the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Higher Education, College and Technical Education, at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha today.
The Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been organizing the ‘Manthan’ program for the last 18 years. This program is a good platform for students and youth to create jobs and express their discoveries. Such programs have already been organized in some taluks and districts, and today, in collaboration with the Karnataka government, the grand finale program is being organized today at the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall, he said.
After discussing with undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate and diploma students of several private and government educational institutions, 23 students were selected and about Rs. 25 lakhs of incentive money is being distributed. Some students today spoke about their exploration. If such students become good entrepreneurs, there will be great progress for the country. For that, I personally congratulate the students who do such exploration on behalf of the government, he said.
Today, the problem of unemployment is increasingly plaguing the youth in our country. Commercial and industrial institutions should give more encouragement to the young generation. Students migrate abroad with the aim of earning more money. What is the benefit of learning in our country and giving their talent to another country? We should worry about the country. We should establish industries here and create more jobs, he said.
Secretary to the Government of the Higher Education Department, Mrs. Tulasi Maddineni, said that 1200 proposals were submitted, out of which 120 proposals were good. Some of them were excellent. The Higher Education Department is providing skills along with the degree. He said that he would do business after completing his degree 20 years ago. His parents used to say, “Work.” But now, they encourage him that starting a startup is a good idea. As difficult as it is in business, it is equally difficult in work. He said that he should become a successful businessman.
Dr. K. Ullas Kamath, founder of UK & Co, Smt. Umareddy, President of F KCCI, Dr. Gopal Krishna H.N., Commissioner of the Department of College Education, and other dignitaries, students, and parents were present at the event.
