Clearance has been obtained for extension of Coastal Regulation Zone(CRZ) for the coastal areas in Karnataka from the Regional Office of Chennai. It would give a boost for development of the coastal region, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
The Chief Minister was speaking to media persons in New Delhi.
The CRZ exemption limit has been extended in Goa and Kerala states which has helped growth of the Hotel and tourism industry in a big way in those states in their coastal region. Serious efforts were made for a similar extension in Karnataka too. Now permission has been obtained from the regional office in Chennai. With this the 330 km long coast in Karnataka would see spurt in economic activity, fishing, tourism and hotel business, Bommai said.
Ring Roads
Discussions have been held with the union minister for Transport on construction of 5 Ring Roads in the state. The Centre has agreed for concessions and GST exemption. The Ring Road works would be taken up for Raichur, Koppal, Gulbarga, Belagavi and Gadag towns. The centre has also agreed to clear construction of 24 railway over bridges across the state, Bommai said.
Approval for Textile Park
The Union ministry for Textiles and Commerce has agreed to give in principle approval for setting up Textile Parks at Bijapur and Gulbarga. it would open huge employment opportunities in the region, Bommai said.
Development of ports and marinas
The Chief Minister also sought clearance for many pending proposals for development ports and marinas(dock for small boats). This included 27 projects under the Sagarmala project with a total expenditure of Rss1800 cr. The prominent among these is the Majali fishing port at a cost of Rs250 cr.
The Kali Waterway project would be cleared immediately on submitting the DPR, the union minister has assured clearance for Angaraghatta to Manipal waterway for which the DPR is being prepared, Feasibility fund would be provided for development of Marinas in Baindur, Malpe and Mangaluru which would give big push for tourism and economic activities. Tenders would be invited for the project within the next 8-10 days. The project would be discussed at the Global Investors Meet to be held in November, Bommai said.
Objection against Kasturirangan report
Bommai also said that he is scheduled to meet union minister Bhupender Singh Yadav later in the evening to present Karnataaka’s objections against the implementation of the Kasturirangan report on Ecosentivie Areas. State cabinet has taken a decision against the report. I am leading a state delegation in accordance with the state government’s decision. We have a few objections against some of the recommendations that would affect the livelihood of the people in Western Ghat region. The green top from the Satellite imagery includes horticulture crops. Life of the people in the region is intertwined with the nature. They are dependent on nature for existence. Their livelihood should not be affected. It would be conveyed to the minister, Bommai said.
First anniversary of the Govt: It is Janotsava
The Bommai government is set to complete one year on July 28 and it would also mark the third anniversary of BJP government in the state. In this backdrop ‘Janotsava’- a convention to showcase the achievements of the BJP government would be organised in Doddaballapur. BJP National President JP Nadda would inaugurate the convention, Bommai said.
